Spire Club

A remodel of a Church of Christ Scientist church into the premier nightclub in Houston.

Spire Club

1720 Main Street, Houston, Texas  77002

The existing 12,000 sf church was, when it was built in the 1960s, a mid-century modern masterpiece of vaulted and groin vaulted ceilings, wide-open spaces, and dynamic angles.  The Aloft Companies wanted to take it from church to nightclub.  And not just any nightclub – they wanted the premier nightclub between Las Vegas and Miami.  The end result fits the bill.

The congregation and pulpit were changed out for a dance floor and DJ booth in the Main Space.  Booths on the first floor and second floor balconies added plenty of seating… or in Spire’s case, additional dance space.  The entire facility has 3 full bars – one that directly serves the Main Space, one that serves the lobby and courtyard, and one that serves the Morrocan Room.  The Morrocan Room is a secondary music venue and nightclub in the same building that has a much more chill vibe than the main stage area so that patrons can go back and forth between the two rooms as well step outside onto the patio.  The DJs that play here are world famous, the drinks are extremely expensive, and the architecture was a lot of fun to create.
